2009 Season Summary
It is with great pride that the Cumberland Valley High School Marching Band, under the field direction of Drum Majors Lucy Davis and Alyssa Tallman present their 2009 field show production, “The Journey Westward”.
This year’s show is a musical representation of the westward expansion of the United States. Our journey begins in the East with the excitement of the unknown and the promise of a new day as we perform Ron Nelson’s “Sonoran Desert Holiday.”
We then pause to reflect upon our journey thus far as we present Ralph Ford”s Piece, “Shannon Falls”.
Our migration westward concludes in the west with and intense finish across the plains as we perform Hans Zimmer’s “Wonders of the New World”. Musical soloists of this production include Logan Adams, Taylor Burton, and Danny Tosiano.
The director of the Cumberland Valley Marching Band is Scott Ainscough. Assistant Director is Dave Porter. The music was arranged by Mark Kothe; with percussion arrangements by Steve Filippelli and Todd Seville. Drill Designer is Brett Templin and color guard design by Will Callaway.
Percussion Techs include Adam Baldwin, Matt Adams, and Ali Rodrigues. Colorguard techs include Brittany Hine, Jen Hine, and Abby Porter. Visual techs are Tyler Steck and Adam Porter. Special thanks to C.V. Marching Band Alumni Jon Donath, Travis Rodgers, Jon Snyder, Jess Caserta, Matt Dinger, Luke Zampelli, Kayla Zirbel, Ellen Williams, and Ryan Wakefield.
On behalf of the band members and staff, we wish to thank parents, administration, community and friends of the C.V. Band for their continued support. And now, sit back and enjoy CV’s production, “A Journey Westward”.
Season Recap: The journey westward started with Band Camp on Monday, August 10th, 2009. After that it pretty much rained a lot and most of the students got the H1N1 virus (also known as swine flu). Somehow, they still managed to have fun and did a terrfic job.
